Advantages of EPS building blocks

2023.05.16

1. What is EPS building module wall?
Polystyrene foam (EPS) building module wall is a composite wall made of flame-retardant polystyrene foam modules as templates, insulation layer, poured concrete core layer, and surface plastering or paving.
2. What are the advantages of EPS building module walls? What is its scope of application?
The EPS building module wall integrates the functions of load bearing, earthquake resistance, heat preservation and sound insulation. It has the advantages of flexible structure, firm structure, quick and convenient construction, low comprehensive cost, and meets the requirements of energy saving and comfort. It is suitable for the construction of civil buildings below three floors.
3. What are the basic types of EPS building modules?
There are two basic types of EPS building blocks: standard and corner. The basic dimensions of the module are 1200mm in length, 240mm in width and 300mm in height. Five square holes and round holes with a cross-sectional size of 150mmx150mm are evenly distributed along the length direction. There are semi-square round holes on the top and bottom of the module. These holes are interconnected with poured concrete beams and columns, forming an invisible framework.
4. What are the construction points of EPS building modules?
①The foundation should be flat, and the foundation width should not be less than 480mm. Before the initial setting of the foundation concrete, rebar should be inserted in the center of the module and the reinforcing head should be exposed at least 500 mm above the foundation surface.
② The wall should be horizontal and vertical, and the holes of adjacent modules should be aligned. Horizontal reinforcement shall be placed at the center of the horizontal joints of the modules and supported with reinforcement. After the modules have been fabricated to the specified height, vertical steel bars shall be placed in each hole of the modules.
③ Before pouring concrete, the wall should be inspected to ensure the vertical and horizontal strength of the wall, and the concrete strength should not be lower than C20.
If the window sill needs to be placed, the concrete should be smoothed first, and then embedded bolts should be installed in the concrete; before the concrete is poured, the wires, water supply and drainage pipes should be embedded on the wall, or buried in the trench according to the specified position.
5. How to make the interior and exterior finishes of EPS building module walls?
The inner side can be pasted with gypsum board or other boards, and can also be used for plastering. The fire resistance limit of the interior surface layer should meet the fire protection requirements; the exterior can use fiber-reinforced polymer mortar or other finishes with good weather resistance and crack resistance, and combine with facade art treatment to reserve grid joints.
